Looking down more than fifty years
at Stellafane, I sight
the lofty Vermont Mecca
where I trekked
as if it were Delphi giving oracles
to my youthful wish for flight.

Its observatory
and mountaintop cabin
make history,
still hosting sleuths of the
telescope-makers who traverse
the globe each year to perfect
their instruments and detect
cosmic mysteries.

Its high altar
now anchors
me to home ground
in my golden sail
around this choppy course.

Gail has a story about her journey to Stellafane in FABRICS Oct 2005
